Why we're building Hive 2.0
Hive Ambition started in 2024 with a simple belief that women in business deserved better support.
Since then, hundreds of women have shown up and proved that belief right. But as Hive grew, so did a question we couldn't ignore: what does this community actually want to become? So we asked.
We surveyed members.
We had coffee chats.
We hosted Zoom calls.
and had many DM conversations.
We wanted to know what was working, what wasn't, and what would make Hive feel like the thing they actually needed.
And our members told us.
What our members said
The biggest theme? The app was getting in the way. It wasn't intuitive, it was hard to build a habit around, and too many members were struggling to engage the way they wanted to. Some were checking in weekly and pushing through the friction. Others had basically stopped opening it. The connection was there, but the tool wasn't making it easy to use.
They also told us they wanted deeper connection, not just more of it. They didn't want more events for the sake of events, but more intentional ways to get to know each other and more spaces that were just for members.
They wanted to be discoverable and a way to find each other by what you do, where you are, and what you're building, without having to scroll through a feed hoping to stumble on the right person.
They also wanted practical resources that saved them time, like templates, toolkits, and expert recommendations. And they wanted it to feel less like a platform they had to figure out and more like a place they actually wanted to be.
Thankfully, no one said, "Burn it down, and start over." Instead, we got a lot of people saying, "Give us more of what's already working, and make it easier to show up for it."
And that was the real impetus for Hive 2.0.
What we're building
Hive 2.0 starts with a better app. That's the thing most of you already know about, and it's the thing we're most excited to get into your hands. We've rebuilt on a platform that's actually easy to use, with a better feed experience and fewer barriers between you and the people you're here to connect with.
But the app is just the foundation, not the whole thing.
We've put a tremendous amount of thought and research into what actually makes connections happen inside a community like this.
And it's not just about hosting "more events," but it's about creating the right kinds of spaces at the right cadence. So, we're doing more member-only experiences designed to help you get to know each other. We're providing always-on co-working so there's always somewhere to show up when you need it. There will be more digital events, so geography won't determine how much value you get from your membership.
We're also launching with a discoverable, public member directory so you can actually find each other (and people outside Hive can find you). You'll be able to search by industry, location, and more, so the connections that used to happen by accident can now happen on purpose. It also means more outside visibility for your business.
We're also building out a growing resource library designed to make the day-to-day of running your business a little less painful. Think templates, toolkits, and resources on the stuff you shouldn't have to figure out from scratch. So when you need help with something like hiring or content planning, there's somewhere to go.
And there's more coming. We have plans for deeper programming, small-group formats, new locations, and new ways to spotlight members and their businesses. We're not announcing timelines on those yet because we want to build them right, but they're on the roadmap, and we'll share more as they take shape.
The bigger picture
Hive's first chapter was about figuring out who we are.
It was about testing, learning, listening, failing at some things, doubling down on others, and slowly discovering what Hive actually wanted to become.
We know now. Hive 2.0 isn't just an improved version of itself. It's also a statement about who we are and where we're headed.
It's built on values that were always present but are now foundational. Values like belonging, reciprocity, honesty, and intentionality. Every decision we make about programming, features, events, and growth now runs through those four things first (we'll share more on these later).
We know that ambitious women are prone to working themselves into isolation and have a hard time asking for help, but we believe that the strongest businesses and people are built in community, not in isolation.
And we want to provide a space for ambitious female entrepreneurs to be seen, supported, and validated in their experiences as entrepreneurs and as people. And we aim to enable future generations of women to pursue their most ambitious goals and know they have support.
We have a vision that's bigger than Asheville, bigger than a membership community, and honestly, big enough that it scares us a little to say out loud. We genuinely believe we're at the beginning of something really, really big, and we can't wait for the road ahead.
