Networking Sucks (So I Built Something Better)

Networking sucks. There, I said it.

If you’ve ever walked into a traditional networking event and instantly felt drained from just the thought of awkward conversations, business card swaps, forced pitches, you’re not alone. Most small business owners, especially women, hate traditional networking. And for good reason.

The truth is, networking events often feel transactional, uncomfortable, and inauthentic. You’re expected to “sell yourself,” even when all you want is to connect with other humans who get it.

That’s exactly why I created Hive Ambition.

Hive Ambition Was Built Because I Hated Networking

As a founder, I was craving real community, not another business card collection.

I wanted a space where:

  • You could show up as yourself first, business owner second

  • You didn’t have to pitch or perform

  • You could talk about your business... or not

  • Trust and connection came before the sale

At Hive, we focus on building relationships that actually matter. Yes, business connections happen here, but they happen because we lead with support, not because we’re trying to close a deal.

Why Traditional Networking Doesn’t Work

Let’s break it down. Traditional networking events tend to:

  • Prioritize sales over connection

  • Encourage surface-level conversations

  • Feel competitive, not collaborative

  • Leave you mentally exhausted

In contrast, our community at Hive Ambition:

  • Prioritizes authentic relationships and personal growth

  • Offers safe spaces to get feedback, share ideas, and be seen

  • Centers collaboration, not competition

  • Fosters aligned business opportunities (the organic kind)

Hive Ambition Is Not a Networking Group

We’re a membership-based community for women entrepreneurs and business owners who are tired of transactional spaces and ready for something deeper.

At Hive, we gather to support, not to sell.

Our members come together to:

  • Get feedback on their biggest challenges

  • Grow their businesses in aligned, sustainable ways

  • Build lasting friendships and collaborations

  • Feel seen, heard, and supported — without needing to perform

You can talk about your business here, sure. But you’ll never be expected to pitch. You’re welcome whether you’re launching, growing, pivoting, or just figuring things out.
